Hello to Cliff fans everywhere! I'm Karina Neelambaran from Kerala State, India. I've been a fan from my schooldays in the 1960s but got sidetracked somewhere in the mid-1980s. Even so, I've never forgotten Cliff's beautiful voice and always played his albums. Recently I ventured into his home page and all the old memories came flooding back (thank you Internet and the Webmaster!). Seeing Sir Cliff's pictures and reading about him brought on a fit of nostalgia that I continue to feel even as I write this. Feel sort of sad thinking about the lost years. I remember the excitement of rushing to the cinema to see THE YOUNG ONES, SUMMER HOLIDAY and WONDERFUL LIFE. The SUMMER HOLIDAY LP (bought a few days after my marriage in early '65) was the very first album I ever owned and I played it over & over again during those early years. So much so that my marriage blended with the film and vice versa! I can never think of one without remembering the other. Anyway it was great to reminisce for a while. Would love to discuss Cliff with other fans out there! Oh by the way, I'm in my early 50s! SIR CLIFF FOREVER!!

Cliff Richard is one of the most popular pop stars and his music is enjoyed right across the SAARC region in South Asia. He stopped over at Bandaranaike International Airport on route to Singapore in 1972 and he said he enjoyed a cup of Ceylon Tea. This was his only glimpse of Sri Lanka - to date.
The only Sri Lankan journalist ever to have interviewed him was Ivan Corea - he met Cliff Richard at the Greenbelt Festival in 1979. The interview was broadcast over the Commercial Service of the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation, one of the oldest radio stations in South Asia in 1980.
The exclusive interview with Cliff Richard was also published in the WEEKEND newspaper in Colombo in 1979. Cliff also autographed some photographs for his fans in Sri Lanka and they were given away in a special Cliff Competition over the airwaves of the SLBC. The competition was announced by Nihal Bhareti, an announcer with the radio station.
Cliff's Christian music was also featured on 'Parables in Melody' a radio program on the Christian half hour of the SLBC in 1979. (http://parables-in-melody.tripod.com) His Christian music reached new audiences in Sri Lanka.

And every Cliff songs in those days hit only the number 1. for Thailand for many weeks. As a fan, you will be impressed to know that there were many ages of fans went to Sir's concert in Bangkok in March. I was a nine-month pregnant then and could not miss a chance. I discovered that Sir Cliff's voice and songs have been a very good cure whenever I feel sad and always a friend when I feel happy. And on his birthday October 14 this year, I wrote him a song to tell him that "He is the song of my life!!"
